20 September 2014, 9:00 AM to 19 October 2014, 5:00 PM
The Hinterland Scarecrow Festival is a community event taking place during the September school holidays – taking families, locals and visitors on an eclectic tour of the gorgeous hinterland region.
Scarecrow hunters visit a diversity of farmyards, cellar doors, gardens and food stores as they follow the Scarecrow Trail and Map offering a family friendly, free activity for the September school holidays.
It’s a springtime event that celebrates the Mornington Peninsula’s unique creative character with a Touring Trail of Scarecrow Creations and Fabulous Farm-yard Art. Come and experience this free family activity and discover for yourself the incredibly artistic interpretations of ‘The Scarecrow’ from a diverse and eclectic community. Organisers encourage the use of recycled materials in the making of the scarecrows by awarding a cash prize to the entrant that is best illustrates the message: Recover, Reuse, Recycle. There is also an artistic Scarecrow theme in 2014, that is “Mother Nature”.
With such a packed program of Scarecrows to see, a whole day of touring is advised. A visit to Scarecrow Festival Trail can also be combined with a visit to the market, cellar door or farm-gate for a complete taste of this inspirational community.
