To be creative means to be in love with life and if this is the measure then Montalto is one of the most loved regional destinations. Founded in 2002 by the Mitchell Family, Montalto is centred around a beautiful building that blends with the landscape.
From here you can dine in the restaurant or piazza café and relish the produce from the property’s vineyard, olive grove, and vegetable garden but that is not where it ends. At the same time as bringing the land to life with fresh produce, the Mitchell’s passion for wine, food and nature is only rivalled by their love of the arts – the result is a haven for sculpture. The Montalto Sculpture Park features around 30 permanent sculptures that have been acquired over 15 years and have been expertly set into the natural landscape, either blending into the environment or contrasting with it. This display meanders through the vines and the wetlands, mingling gently with the abundant wildlife and natural vegetation. The grounds at Montalto are open daily between 11am to 5pm, and wandering through the Sculpture Park takes a leisurely hour. The trail is around 1km and is suitable for most ages and abilities, meandering over grassy lawns and gravel pathways and through vines and wetland boardwalks. Benches are dotted along the walk should you need a rest. You can even purchase a glass of wine to take on the walk with you. There’s never a better time than now to visit Montalto.
