Rare Hare

There’s a buzz in the air in the Mornington Peninsula, and it comes in the form of a contemporary cutting edge designer hotel, formal restaurant, smart bar, casual dining experience and cellar door.  The name is Jackalope – and it’s the new home of Willow Creek Vineyard Wines. So what is a Jackalope? A Jackalope is a mythical North American folklore character – a rabbit with antlers – and this mythical symbol has been brought to life with a breathtaking sculpture by Emily Floyd, a Melbourne artist who is most famous for The Bird and the Worm on Eastlink.  This seven-metre magnificent Jackalope sculpture proudly sits in the forecourt of the property. Extraordinary, contemporary and bold, the Jackalope property is indeed a unique environment from a design point of view. There is so much more to cover, but the focus of this postcard is Rare Hare - a casual environment, with a food offering that is generous, honest and great value.

Yabby Lake Single Clone Pinot Noir Selection Tastings

When our vineyard was planted in 1998, a range of different clones of pinot noir and chardonnay were chosen for their suitability to individual parts of the site. This has resulted in a complex array of distinct parcels of fruit, each with individual personalities. For example, some clones are characterised by their delicate lifted perfume, and others for their intensity and concentration, or exceptional structure.

We Love Vulcano Gelato!

Vulcano Gelato in Rye has a deep connection to the Ritrovo Remigio’ – a café established in 1960 on the breathtakingly beautiful island of Vulcano located off the coast of Sicily, Italy. It was here at Ritrovo Remigio that the secret base recipe of gelato served in Vulcano Gelato was inspired and cultivated. In 2008, Vulcano Gelato opened in Rye with the single hearted aim of improving the quality and taste of the universally loved authentic Italian gelato and granita.
